LaVERNE EARL THORNBURG

Mr. LaVerne Earl Thornburg, 66, of Danville, died at his residence Wednesday, February 19, 1986 after a lengthy illness.

He was born March 4, 1919 at Lowell, to Lloyd and Anna Berry Thornburg. He married Fern Trueblood, August 23, 1941 at Memphis, Missouri.

He was petroleum salesman for Farm Service at Danville for 38 years before retiring in 1982. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Burlington Moose Lodge No. 579, VFW Post 2449 and the Paternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 150, all of Burlington. He served in the Army special forces in World War II.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Rosanna Grinstead, Southbury, Connecticut and Carla Libby, West Burlington; six brothers, Myron, Keosauqua, Thomas, Oakville, Dale, Bonaparte, Harold, Farmington, Edward, Cantril, and Duane, Burlington; and one granddaughter.

Services were held Saturday, February 22 at the Elliot Chapel, New London with the Rev. Paul Van Gorkom officiating. Burial was in the Jaggar Cemetery, Danville.

A memorial has been established.
