Camille M. Leck

Camille M. Leck, daughter of Charles and Marie Rosa, was born Sept. 15, 1905 in New Rochelle, N.Y. and died Dec. 29, 1985 at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua at the age of 80.

In 1932 she married Bert M. Leck at Harrison, N.Y. They were in the insurance business and operated the Rock Valley Bee newspaper in Rock Valley, Iowa prior to 1952 when they purchased the Van Buren County Register in Keosauqua, which they operated for about 12 years. After selling the Register they built and operated the Keosauqua Dairy Creme which they sold to Waldo and Donna Smutz, the present operators.

Mr. Leck died in 1980.

Surviving are three sisters, Catherine Valention, Danbury, Conn., and Marie Latino and Sue Rosa, both of New Rochelle, N.Y. and a number of nieces and nephews including Joseph Latino and Delores Dorritie, both of New York City.

She was one of a family of 13 children.

She was a Roman Catholic, and was active in numerous community organizations as long as health permitted.

Funeral services were held Dec. 31, 1985 at 3 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Leo Lancaster of St. Boniface Church, Farmington officiating. Interment was in Fellows Cemetery Keosauqua.
