Fay L. Steele

Faye L. Steele, daughter of Frank and Maggie Black, was born December 4, 1896 at Tazewell, Ill., and departed this life early the morning of Sunday, Dec. 22, 1985 at her home in Fremont at the age of 89.

She married William Mark Steele who died in 1957. Two sons, Herbert and Harry also preceded her in death. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

The Steeles farmed in Mahaska, Davis, Wapello and Van Buren Counties.

Surviving are a daughter, Icyphene Steen, Agency, four sons, Frank, Ottumwa, Herman, Texarkana, Texas, Lee, Walnut Creek, California and Gene, Bloomfield, grandchildren and great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

She was a member of the Fremont Church of the Nazarene.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 26, 1985 at 10 a.m. in the Fremont Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Jack Wogamuth, pastor officiating. Interment was in Highland Cemetery, Eddyville. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds.
