John C. Sears

John C. Sears, son of Murtis and Minnie Gordon Sears, was born May 1, 1910 at Stotland, Missouri and departed this life early the morning of Saturday, December 13, 1986 at University Hospitals in Iowa City at the age of 76.

John lived in Memphis, Missouri in Richland, Fairfield and Batavia, Iowa and for the past 25 years in Cantril. He was a retired mechanic and did farm work.

He married Betty Meade, March 15, 1966 at Quincy, Illinois.

Surviving are his wife, Betty; three sons, Robert, Gorin, Missouri and Jonathan and George in California; daughter-in-law Hollie Sears, Floris; and three grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Oscar, St. Louis, Missouri, Artie, San Leandro, California and Frank in Pennsylvania. Three brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 15, 1986 at 1:30 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril. A memorial was established.
