Norman Mellott

KNOXVILLE - Norman A. Mellott, 78, of the VA Medical Center in Knoxville the past 12 years, died there Feb. 17, 1986.

He was born March 7, 1907, in McConnelsberg, Pa., to Seth and Estella Mellott. He grew up in Pennsylvania, entered the Marine Corp in 1928 and was a Japaneses prisoner of war for several years.

He is survived by a son, Kenneth Mellott of Bellbrook, Ohio; three grandchildren; five sisters, Beatrice Wielonteck of Chicago, Alma Woolums of Packwood, Mary Hynes of Rock Island, Ill., Margaret "Peggy" Miller of Keosauqua and Peggy Inbody of Arnolds Park; and a brother, Luther Mellott of Rapid City, Ill.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, the Rev. Kermit Black officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Friends may call at their convenience after noon Thursday at the funeral home.
