EDNA ELDER

Edna Alice Elder, daughter of Edward and Donna Hyde Fostnot, was born February 24, 1886 in Keosauqua and died February 12, 1986 at Sunset Nursing Home, Park Rapids, Minn. at 99 year, 12 days short of 100.

On June 26, 1904 she married Isaac N. Elder in the Methodist Episcopal parsonage in Keosauqua. They farmed for 40 years. They farmed near Woodward, Iowa and in 1945 moved back to Van Buren County where they owned several different farms. In 1953 they retired and moved to Keosauqua where Mr. Elder was city marshal and Mrs. Elder did babysitting.

In 1922 the Elders adopted Aniele Evelyn Elder and raised her. Following Mr. Elder's death Jun 29, 1970, Mrs. Elder moved to Menahga, Minnesota to live near her daughter.

She was a member of the Menahga Senior Citizens and the Methodist Church, which she joined in a country church in Van Buren County in 1900.

Mrs. Elder is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Elder Anderson, Menahga, a sister, LaVina G. Riley, Eagle Grove, Iowa and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers.

Funeral services were held Sat., Feb. 15, 1986 at 2 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Don Morrison officiating. Interment was in Fellows Cemetery, Keosauqua.
