Raymond L. Lowery

Raymond L. Lowery, 68, Bonaparte, died at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at University Hospitals, Iowa City.

According to the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department, Mr. Lowery died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Born Aug. 2, 1918, at Revere, Mo., he was the son of Lonnie and Nellie Dorothy Lowery. He married Helen Saunders Aug. 7, 1946, in Fort Madison.

He was a retired carpenter and a resident of the Bonaparte American Legion post and the Bonaparte Historical Society.

Surviving are his wife, Helen, Bonaparte; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel (Gene) Medaris, Farmington, and Mrs. Gladys (Kenneth) Muntz, Fairfield.

Services for Mr. Lowery will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington, the Rev. James Rozendaal officiating. Burial will be in Bonaparte Cemetry.
