Robert Franklin dies at 79

KEOSAUQUA - Robert Franklin, 79, of the Pittsburg community west of Keosauqua, died Saturday evening at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with the Rev. Bob Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Pittsburg Cemetery. Friends may call at their convenience at the funeral home, where memorials to the Pittsburg Cemetery may be left.

Franklin was born Nov. 11, 1907 near Batavia, the son of General Grant and Hannah Bonnett Franklin. He lived in the Batavia and Libertyville area until moving to the present farm at Pittsburg in 1946. He married Guida Brewer April 6, 1934. She survives.

Also surviving are six sons, Richard, Leo, General, Gary, all of Keosauqua, Robert of Cairn, Mo., John of Fort Madison; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Seven brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
