Velda O.Murphy, 84 of Keosauqua [IA] died at 7 p.m. Nov. 29, 1992 at the Van Buren County Hospital.

She was born Aug. 13, 1908 near Bentonsport to Jo Isaac and Mamie Liming McCracken. She married Lawrence Murphy May 16, 1934 in Keosauqua.

She graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1927 in the normal training program and taught school in Van Buren County. She was active in the Keosauqua and later the Fairfield Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Laura Hild of Bella Vista, Ark.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stuart McCracken of Great Falls, Mont., and Mark McCracken of Jeffersonville, Ind. She was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Loeffler and a brother, Dwight McCracken.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, the Rev. Lothar Lengtat officiating. Burial will be in Fellows Cemetery in Keosauqua. Open visitation will begin at noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Van Buren County Hospital or Van Buren Good Samaritan Center and may be left at the funeral home. Honorary Bears: Duke Schmidt and Buster Watts. Active Bearers: Mike Harman, Norman Senour, William Waldron, Bob Morgan, Tim Lockwood, Vernen Downard.
