Eva Mitchell

Eva Kerby Mitchll, 92, of Kahoka, Mo. died Friday, July 12, 1985, at 7:29 p.m. at Keokuk Area Hospital.

The daughter of John and Mary Ann Eliza Webb Kerby, she was born in Stockingford, England, on Oct. 11, 1892.

She married Rolla Russell Mitchell on Sept. 19, 1915 at Kahoka and he died on June 13, 1955.

Survivors include three sons: C. Kerby Mitchell of Keosauqua, Darrell D. Mitchell of Jacksonville, Fla., and Gordon L. Mitchell of Santa Ana, Calif.; one daughter; Felicia A. DeWitt of Tucson, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one half-brother.

Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Kahoka United Methodist Church; of the WSCS of the church, holding several offices and taught Sunday School for many years; was a member of the Kahoka Rebekah Lodge; the Garden Club; and a registered nurse receiving her training at Graham Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa, and working as a private nurse for many years.

Services were held Monday, July 15, at 11 a.m. at the Kahoka United Methodist Church with the Rev. Beryl Cragg officiating. Burial in the Christy Cemetery at Acasto.

Memorials may be made to the Clark County Nursing Home or the Kahoka United Methodist Church.
