CARL A. DAVIS
Carl A. Davis, son of Charles and Eva McGovern Davis was born September 7, 1906 at Virginia, Illinois and departed this life early the morning of Saturday, November 2, 1985 at University Hospital, Iowa City at the age of 79.
He grew up in Virginia community and on October 17, 1925 married Goldie Barbee in Virginia. They moved to Lee County, Iowa in 1929 and to Van Buren County in 1941. Carl farmed and worked at Barker Equipment for several years. He and Goldie were caretakers at the Lebanon Cemetery for several years. The past number of years they had lived in Lebanon.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Albert, Murry, Iowa, Arthur, Douds, and Richard, Hillsboro; three daughters, Donna Brown, Keosauqua, Charldeane Jakubowski, Davenport, and Betty Leafgreen, Fairfield. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and a great, great grandchild, and a sister, Mary Phillips, Montrose. Two sons, Charles and Russell, two great grandchildren, a brother Harry and a sister, Gladys Nuebel, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 5, 1985 at 2 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with David Callen officiating. Interment was in Lebanon Cemetery. A memorial was established for the cemetery.
