Frederick W. Moore
Frederick W. Moore, son of Floyd and May Oosthoek Moore, was born January 26, 1922 near Birmingham and died the afternoon of Thursday, August 8, 1985 at University Hospital, Iowa City, at the age of 63.
He graduated from Birmingham High School and served in the United States Army Air Force in the China-Burma-India theater during World War II.
On January 31, 1943 he married Maurine Leavitt at Memphis, Mo.
She survives, as does their son Kenneth and his wife Connie of Birmingham, their daughter Marilyn Tabb and her husband Wayne of Austin, Texas, two grandchildren, Sherri and Daniel Moore and a step-grandson, Brad Tabb. Also surviving are his parents of Eldon, two sisters, Florence Baker of Libertyville and Aileen Matheson, Keosauqua, other relatives and friends. A sister, Jeannette Samuelson, preceded him in death.
Fred was a rural mail carrier out of the Birmingham Post office of the Birmingham Post office for many years. He was a member of the state and national Rural Letter Carriers' Associations, Haney-Brannan Post 181, American Legion, Birmingham and the Disabled American Veterans.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 11, 1985 at 2 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Birmingham, with military rites in charge of Haney-Brannan Post. Memorials were established for the Birmingham First Responders and the Hear Fund.
