CHARLES C. PAYNE
Charles C. Payne, 78, of Bonaparte died at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, September 1, 1985 in the Burlington Medical Center.
Mr. Payne was born August 5, 1907 in Iowa County. A farmer he had lived on the same farm for 51 years. He was a member of the Cantril Christian Church.
On December 27, 1933, in Bonaparte, he married Dorothy Story, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Jerry, of Mt. Sterling; a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Zeta) Shannan of West Burlington; two brothers, Cleo of Pulaski and James of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Story of Bonaparte, Mrs. Carl (Selma) Andrews of Hermitage, Missouri and Mrs. Verdon (Wilma) Perkins of Cantril and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and a grandchild. His parents were James and Alma Wanzer Payne.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 4, 1985 at the Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington with the Rev. Charles Butler officiating. Burial was in Thompson cemetery, near Bonaparte.
A memorial has been established with the Thompson cemetery. Contributions may be made at the Hofbauer Funeral Home.
