EMILY C. SPILMAN

Emily C. Spilman, daughter of J.F. and Amy Hull Cudworth, was born November 24, 1898 in Texas County, Missouri and departed this life the afternoon of Thursday, August 22, 1985 in Bloomfield Care Center, Bloomfield, Iowa at the age of 86.

In 1971(?) she married Patton Miller who passed away in 1955. In 1958 she married J.A. Spilman. He died in 1980. A son, Franklin P. Miller, a granddaughter, Judith Ann Miller three sisters and six brothers also preceded her in death.

Surviving are a son, Walter R. "Dick" Miller and his wife Twyla of Milton; a stepson, Robert E. Spilman and his wife Norman of Hedrick; a daughter-in-law Ferne Miller of Milton; three grandchildren, Dixie Casady of Fort Dodge, Dale R. Miller of Milton, and Randal Miller of Woodward; a great grandson and four step-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Jessie Spilman of Fairfield and Elizabeth Snelling of Douds.

She moved with her parents to Selma in 19oo, traveling from Missouri by covered wagon. She and Mr. Miller lived for a time in Green County, Iowa and Many years in the Eldon community. In 1942 they moved to the Milton-Troy area. She and Mrs. Spilman lived in Hedrick and following his death, she moved to the senior citizens' apartments in Cantril. Mrs. Spilman was a charter member of the Help Your Neighbor Club of rural Milton and a member of the O.D.O. Club and the Garden Club in Hedrick.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 24, 1985 at 2 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds with Rev. Harold Harryman officiating. Interment was in Iowaville Cemetery near Selma. A memorial was established for the Iowaville Cemetery.
