Maynard L. "Bo" Garrett

Maynard L. "Bo" Garrett, son of Crowe Garrett, was born Aug. 27, 1938 in Jefferson County north of Selma and died Wednesday, May 29, 1985 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 46.

He grew up in the Selma community and graduated from Selma High School. He worked at Brown Sawmill near Douds and Laddsdale Coal Co. near Selma.

He was a heavy equipment operator and was doing construction work in Texas when stricken with a stroke.

The past 15 years his home had been in Monticello, Iowa. Remaining are his wife, Louise, two sons, Carl of Agency and Syrus of Ottumwa, his mother, Mrs. Hazel Canny of Eldon. Also surviving are four brothers, Donald of Batavia, Leo, Jr. of Wind Lake, Wisc., Philip of Bloomfield and Billy of Glenwood, and three sisters, Patricia Ludwig of Webster City, Phyllis McIntosh of Fairfield, and Lillian Curtis of York Pa., two step-sons, Marvin and Jerry Mitchell, a step-daughter, Evelyn Thomas, nine step-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 1, 1985 at 10 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, with Rev. David Albert officiating. Interment was in Iowaville Cemetery near Selma.
