Velma Smith

Velma Stull Smith, 78, of Birmingham died Nov. 9, 1985 at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

She was born Dec. 18, 1906, in Birmingham to James and Grace Buchanan Stull. She was reared and educated in Birmingham, and graduated from Birmingham High School and Parsons College. She taught school for 25 years in California and moved back to Birmingham in 1972.

She is survived by a sister, Kathryn Irvine of Highland Park, Ill.

A graveside service will beheld at 10 a.m. Nov. 11 at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, the Rev. Duane Olsen officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Cancer Fund.

Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham was in charge of arrangements.
