Ellis Byers

FAIRFIELD - Ellis A. Byers, 82, of Fairfield died Oct. 4, 1985, at the Morris Memorial Park in Stockport.

He was born July 19, 1903, in Birmingham to Hiram O. and Alta Skinner Byers. he married Florence A. Crable on May 11, 1933, in Fairfield. He lived in Birmingham before moving to Fairfield 66 years ago. He had been employed as a blueprint photostat operator at Louden Machinery for 50 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the Fairfield Weekenders, and his interests included camping, reading, woodworking and spectator sports.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Keith L. of Bettendorf and Dennis of Fairfield; a daughter, Joyce Holt of Onalaska, Wis.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Lee of Fairfield; and a sister, Meriam Courtney of Minburn.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, the Rev. Charles Kincaid officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Family visitation is 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday.

A memorial has been established to his church or the Fairfield Public Library.
