Linnie Parker

FAIRFIELD - Linnie Lyon Parker, 87, of Fairfield died at 4:50 a.m. Aug. 5, 1985, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

She was born March 11, 1898, in Mount Sterling, to John J. and Martha Ellen Calhoun Logan. She married Thomas G. Lyon on July 5, 1919, at Waco, Texas. He died in October of 1936, in Keosauqua. She then married C.C. Parker on Aug. 20, 1957. He died April 20, 1976. She had lived seven years in the Fairfield community with previous residences in the Van Buren and Mount Pleasant communities. She was an elementary school teacher in the Van Buren and Henry school systems, teaching 44 years before her retirement. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, BPW, AARP, a past noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge, Easy Side Mothers Club, the Hall of Fame of Iris Bowling Club in Mount Pleasant and a lifetime member of ISEA.

She is survived by a daughter, Thelma Simpson of Fairfield; two stepsons, Delberet Parker of Wayland and Russell Parker of Mount Pleasant; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Behner Funeral Home, the Rev. Charles Kincaid officiating. Burial will be in Purdom Cemetery in Keosauqua.

Friends may call at their convenience.

A memorial has been established to the longterm care center of Jefferson County Hospital.
