DONALD (PETE) GARES

Donald (Pete) Gares, 65, Bonaparte, died at 8:10 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 1985 of an apparent heart attack while raccoon hunting near Bentonsport.

Mr. Gares was born May 30, 1920. He moved from Farmington to Bonaparte in 1974. He was a machinist at Corry Machine and Tool. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post of Bonaparte.

On September 13, 1942, at Kahoka, Missouri, he married Beryl Moore, who survives.

Also surviving are his step-mother, Alena, Bonaparte; a son, Donald Gares, Burlington; a sister, Vera Gares, Ottumwa; a stepbrother, Joe Green, Danville; two stepsisters, Betty Vickers and Vivian Green, Bonaparte; and a grandchild and a great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a sister. His parents were Glenn T. and Ora Peterie Gares.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 5, 1985, 1:30 p.m. at the Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington, with Rev. Bob Hambright officiating. Burial was in the Bonaparte Cemetery.

A memorial is being established with the Bonaparte First Responders. Contributions may be made at the Hofbauer Funeral Home.
