Mrs. Ceclia Dodson

Funeral services for Mrs. Cecelia C. Dodson were at 10 a.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Amborn and her brother, the Rev. L.J. Bergthold officiating. Pallbearers were Mike and Doug Dodson, Greg and Jerry Holtkamp and John and Eugene Kassmeyer. Burial was in Soldiers Circle, Oakland Cemetery.

Mrs. Dodson died at 6:25 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 1985, at the Fort Madison Community Hospital. Death was unexpected. She was born August 29, 1919, in West Point and was a lifelong resident of Lee county. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Altar and Rosary Society of the church, the Santa Fee Ladies' Auxiliary and the Catholic Ladies' Auxiliary.

On April 20, 1938, in Farmington, she was married to Ralph T. Dodson, who preceded her in death on January 17, 1982.

She is survived by four sons: Ben of Montrose, Ralph J. of Comanche, Robert of Springfield, Mo., and Raymond of Fort Madison; three daughters: Mrs. James (Carol) Holtkamp of Salem, Mrs. Ralph (Doris) Kassmeyer of West Point, Mrs. David (Betty) Ballard of Farmington; five other brothers: Vincent and Jerome Bergthold of Davenport, Cletus Bergthold of Blue Grass, Lawrence Bergthold of West Point and Joseph Bergthold of Chicago; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Kempker of West Point and 25 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Her parents were Henry and Anna Stinger Berthold.

The body was in King-Lynk Funeral Home where friends could call as they desired and where the rosary was recited at 3 p.m. by the Altar and Rosary Society and at 7:30 p.m. by the parish.

A memorial was established with Sacred Heart Church. Contributions may be made at the King-Lynk Funeral Home.
