William Metcalf

DOUDS - William G. Metcalf, 42, of Douds, died Dec. 31, 1985, at rural Douds.

He was born Dec. 6, 1943, in Ottumwa to Warren and Vivian Rhoda Metcalf. A resident of Selma most of his life, he was employed by Rockwell International in Fairfield, and operated the Eldon Used Car Lot. He had been employed by John Morrell Co. until 1973. He was a member of the Selma United Methodist Church. He married Peggy Essary on June 15, 1963 at Selma.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Connie Jo at home; a son, Rick of Selma; a grandson; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Metcalf of Douds; two sisters, Pat Shute of Cedar Rapids and Juanita Newburn of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four brothers, John and Steve of Douds, Andy of Eldon, and Matt of Birmingham; and grandmothers, Mrs. Temple Cooper and Mrs. Mae Rhoda of Ottumwa.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Eldon Christian Church, the Rev. Chris Daniels officiating. Burial will in the Iowaville Cemetery near Selma.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Campbell Funeral Home in Eldon.

A memorial has been established to the Selma United Methodist Church Mission.
