Blanche Martin

Blanche R. Martin, 79, of 209 S. Schuyler died at 1:32 p.m. Nov. 12, 1985, at the Ottumwa Manor.

She was born May 28, 1906, in Cantril to Benjamin and Stella Wilson Casady. She was a member of the Finley Avenue Baptist Church, the Order of Eastern Star No. 112, the Ladies Auxiliary of Burlington Veterans, and the Ladies Auxiliary of United Transportation Union. She married Charles Martin on June 24, 1931, in Missouri.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Barbara Schultz of Galesburg, Ill.; a son, Robert Hockersmith of Bloomfield; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Jemison of Ottumwa and Pauline Engholdt of Las Vegas, Nev.; two brothers, Clyde Casady of Henderson, N.C. and Carl Casady of Valley Center, Calif.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Finley Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

The casket will remain at the Johnson Funeral Chapel until 10:30 a.m. Friday, when it will be taken to the church and closed as the service begins.

Visitation will be after 12 noon Thursday. Family visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday.

A memorial has been established to her church.
