MARGARET M. LAUGHLIN

Margaret M. Laughlin, daughter of Lewis and Katharine Brooks Channel, was born April 8, 1905 near Keosauqua and departed this life late in the evening of Tuesday, June 25, 1985 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, at the age of 80.

Most of her life was spent in Van Buren County. On March 13, 1936 she married Ernest Laughlin at Memphis, Missouri. He died in 1983.

Surviving are two daughters, Verda Davis of Stockport and Ethel Biggs of Keosauqua; a son, Harold Dean Oosthoek, Fairfield; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Dorothy Hootman, Douds; three brothers, Forrest "Pete" Channel, Dallas, Texas, Leo Channel, Sacramento, California; two half sisters, three half brothers and other relatives. Her parents and other relatives. Her parents, a sister and a brother preceded her in death.

Margaret was a member of the Baptist Church and a past member of the Pythian Sisters.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 28, 1985 at 11 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Rev. Duane Olsen officiating. Interment was in Mount Moriah Cemetery north of Douds.
