Ivan J. McVey

Ivan J. McVey, 74, of West Point, died at 11:20 a.m., Thursday, February 21, 1985 in the Fort Madison Community Hospital, following an apparent heart attack earlier at his home.

Mr. McVey was born Jan. 7, 1911, at Keosauqua. He had been a resident of West Point for more than 50 years where he was a carpenter and upholsterer.

On March 21, 1929, in Fort Madison, he married Vera Lamm, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Giles McVey of Ola, Ark., Paul McVey of Burlington and Gerald McVey of West Point; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Shirley) Hatch of Hillsboro; two brothers, Dexter McVey of Fort Madison and Ralph McVey of West Yellowstone, Mont. and 13 grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. His parents were Guy and Mabel Jameson McVey.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 2 p.m. Saturday, February 23 at the Link Funeral Home in West Poiont with the Rev. Marvin Potter officiating. Burial was in Aspen Grove cemetery in Burlington.

A memorial was established to the West Point Presbyterian Church.

Pallbearers were Steve McVey, Terry McVey, Randy McVey, Erick McVey, Roland McVey, Ross McVey, Curt McVey and Patrick Water.
