Norlan Woodard

OSKALOOSA - Former Hedrick resident Norlan E. Woodard, 72, of Oskaloosa died at 12:50 p.m. Nov. 25, 1985, at his home.

He was born April 29, 1913, near Eddyville to Fred and Bertha Smith Woodard. He was reared in Ottumwa and graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1931. He was employed at John Morrell and Co. from 1931 until retiring in1973. He married Dorothy Wey on Jan. 5, 1933, in Missouri.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Oskaloosa; seven sons, Ralph of Ottumwa, Jerry Lee of Floris, Lawrence "Jeep" of Selma, Lloyd of Hedrick, Norlan "Cork" of LaMars, James Ray of Ollie and Jack of Richland; two daughters, and Dorothy "D.I." DeMarse and Lois Ebelsheiser of Oskaloosa; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Walter of Ottumwa, Paul of Wyoming and Robert of Mechanicsville; and four sisters, Helen Gilland of Ottumwa, Alice Steele of Eldon, June McDonald of California and JoAnn Weir of Ottumwa.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fremont Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa.

Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.

Memorials may be made to the family.
