Lyle A. Olson

FARMINGTON - Lyle A. Olson, 88, died at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 1985 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield.

He was born Oct. 24, 1896, at Juneau, Wis., to Andrew and Josephine Huxford Olson. He graduated from Iowa State University and taught vocational agriculture for many years. He married Verna Sargeant Aug. 9, 1934, at Bonaparte; they moved to Farmington from Bonaparte in 1945.

Mr. Olson was a member of the United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, and American Legion. He was a former scout-master and was a charter member of both Des Moines Valley Rock Club and Relic Club and Pioneer Historical Society.

Mr. Olson was widely known for his collection of straight-edge razors, which he had exhibited for 20 years at the Old Settlers and Threshers Reunion at Mt. Pleasant.

His wife survives.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 6, at the United Methodist Church with Rev. James Rozendaal officiating. Burial was in Greenglade Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the United Methodist Church library.
