Harold D. Smart, 75, of 203 S. Ferry died March 25, 1985, at St. Augustine, Fla.
He was born Feb. 25, 1910, at Bonaparte to Clarence O. and Grace Simmons Smart. He was a member of First Christian Church where he served as an elder. He was also a member of Empire Lodge No. 269, a member of the Ottumwa Kiwanis Club and past president of Royals International Travel Club. He worked with the Boy Scouts of America and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He was retired office manager, working for many Ottumwa automobile dealers. He married Pauline Hendricks on June 18, 1933, in Davis County.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Col. Donald L. of Fort Monroe, Va., and Jerry D. of Cedar Fall; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Boyd of Anaheim, Calif., and Marvin of Indianola.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. at First Christian Church, the Rev. Neil Guy of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
A memorial has been established to his church.

Pallbearers will be Samuel O. Erhardt, Ronald Rhodes, Homer Wagner, Gary Goehring, David Hendricks and Dale Hendricks.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
The Robertson-Jay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
