Maurice Kaska

FAIRFIELD - Maurice Frank Kaska, 64, of Fairfield died at 10:30 p.m. Feb. 4, 1985, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

He was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Fairfield to Vincent and Harriet Susan Kurtz Kaska. He married Margaret Ann Voorhies in California.

He was reared and educated near Fairfield and graduated from Fairfield High School. A World War II Army veteran, he lived in California after the war until 1961 when he moved to Cedar Rapids to work as an accountant for Sentry Engineering until 1971. He lived in Story City for eight years and owned and operated a bowling alley and also worked as night auditor at the Holiday Inn in Ames. He belonged to St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Miller of Vallejo, Calif., and Carolyn Millard of Birmingham; two sons, John and Richard of Fairfield; three grandchildren; and three brothers, Eugene of Fairfield, Raymond of Long Beach, Calif., and Earl of Cedar Rapids.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield, the Revs. William Sullivan and E. William Kaska officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.

Prayers for a Christian wake will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to the heart fund or The Masses.
