Wilson Atwood

Wilson T. Atwood, 80, retired farmer of the Birmingham area, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 1985 at his home in Fairfield.

He was born Jan. 29, 1904, at Piper City, Ill., to Wyllie Thomas and Loressa Wilson Atwood. The family moved to Fairfield in 1910 and later moved to Birmingham in 1941. He lived in Birmingham until 1977, when he moved back to Fairfield . He married Melanola Wilson on June 12, 1941, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. She died July 12, 1973. He was a member of the Birmingham Presbyterian Church and the Birmingham Lions Club.

Surviviors include a son, Mark, of Morrisville, Penn.; two daughters, Jane Button of Kissimmee, Fla., and Mary Joy Atwood of Washington, Iowa; four grandchildren; and one sister, Alice Atwood of Fairfield.

Services were held a Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the Birmingham Presbyterian Church with Rev. Charles Mc Cracken and Rev. Carl Riggs officiating. Burial was at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Memorials may be made to the Birmingham Presbyterian Church.

WILSON T. ATWOOD

Wilson T. Atwood, 80, died early Sunday morning at his home in Fairfield.

He was born January 29, 1904 at Piper City, Illinois. He was the son of Wyllie Thomas and Loressa Jane Wilson Atwood. The family moved to a farm south of Fairfield in 1910. He moved to Birmingham in 1941 and lived his entire married life in that community. He moved to Fairfield in January, 1977.

Mr. Atwood married Nelanola Florence Wilson June 12, 1941, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She died July 12, 1973.

He was a retired farmer, a member and former elder of the Birmingham Presbyterian Church, Birmingham Lions Club and a lifetime member of the Farm Bureau.

Survivors include a son, Mark Atwood, Morrisville, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Jane Button, Kissimee, Florida and Mary Joy Atwood, Washington; four grandchildren and a sister, Alice Atwood, Fairfield.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 1985 at the Birmingham Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Charles McCracken and the Rev. Carl Riggs officiating. Burial was in the Maple Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Birmingham Presbyterian Church. The Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham was in charge of arrangements.
