Annabel Smith dies at 71

KEOSAUQUA - Annabel Smith, 71, of Keosauqua, former Fairfield resident, died at 9 p.m. Monday at University Hospitals in Iowa City where she had been transferred Monday afternoon from Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Keosauqua Christian Church with the Rev. Bob Patterson and the Rev. James Beatty officiating. Burial will be in Fellows Cemetery at Keosauqua. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Fuenral(err) Home in Keosauqua. Memorials to the Fairfield First Baptist Church or the Keosauqua Christian Church may be left at the Funeral home.

The daughter of Dallas and Althea Woodard Jones, Mrs. Smith was born Nov. 19, 1911 at Logan, Ohio. She grew up in Gary, Ind., and graduated from high school there. On Nov. 25, 1937, she married Wayne E. Smith in Gary. They lived in Buchanan, Mich., moved to Fairfield in 1977 and to Keosauqua in July, 1983. She was employed for a number of years by the Simplicity Pattern Company at Niles, Mich.

Surviving are her husband; two sons, Thomas of Fairfield, David of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Thelma Jones of Statesville, N.C.; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two brothers, Robert Jones of Gary, Ind., and Melvin Jones of Houston, Texas.

Mrs. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church in Fairfield and attended the Keosauqua Christian Church.
