Florence E. Coon

Florence E. Coon, daughter of Voyle H. and Mabel Eshelman Loeffler, was born Feb. 6, 1923 in Keosauqua and died the morning of Monday, Dec. 3, 1984 at Brandon, Fla. where she was visiting her daughter and family.

Florence grew up in Keosauqua and on June 7, 1945 was united in marriage to Leslie F. Coon in Elko, Nevada. they lived in Idaho during the remainder of her husband's military service and moved to Keosauqua in 1946. In 1973, they moved to Ottumwa. Mr. Coon died in 1976 and she returned to Keosauqua thereafter.

She was active in the Beer-Barker Unit, American Legion Auxiliary and the Keosauqua Senior Citizens group.

Remaining are a son, Virgle of Kansas City, Mo., two daughters, Mabel Cross of Brandon, Fla. and Louann Harness of Ottumwa, and six grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Darrell, Isaac, and Hollis Loeffler, all of Keosauqua, other relatives and friends. A brother, Elza Loeffler preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 6, 1984 at 2 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with James Watson of the Keosauqua Church officiating. Interment was in Fellows Cemetery. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
