Eva M. Childress

Eva M. Childress, 86, of Memphis died at 5:05 Wednesday morning, May 2, 1984 in Scotland County Nursing Home in Memphis.

Born Nov. 8, 1897, in Grant Park, Ill., she was the daughter of Milton and Cora Wallace Hayden. On February 21, 1917, she was married to Lee Childress who preceded her in death.

Surviving are four children, Verna Kessel, Mrs. Carlton (Jeanette) Ebert of Milton, Iowa; Robert Childress of Lowell, Indiana and Dean Childress of Memphis; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mileta Murray of Highland, Indiana.

Mrs. Childress was a member of the Royal Neighbors of American and the Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held May 5, 1984 at Lowell, Indiana, Payne-Gerth Funeral Home in Memphis was in charge of arrangements.
