GERTRUDE E. KERR

Gertrude E. Kerr, daughter of Graham and Valeda Teeters Lowe, was born March 5, 1892 in Jefferson County and departed this life Wednesday, March 14, 1984 at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield, at the age of 92.

On December 18, 1912 she married Ira C. Kerr in Fairfield. Mr. Kerr died in 1964. A brother, Birdell Lowe and a granddaughter, Wilda Kerr also preceded her in death.

Surviving are a son, Veryl of Douds; two daughters, Vida Philips of Selma and Verna Ruth Boyer of Douds; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Kerr lived in the West Union neighborhood between Douds and Birmingham most of her life. She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 18, 1984 at 2 p.m. in Christ United Methodist Church, Douds, with Rev. Chris Daniel, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds. A memorial was established for her church. Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, was in charge of arrangements.

Gertrude E. Kerr, daughter of Graham and Valeda Teeters Lowe, was born March 5, 1892 in Jefferson County and died the evening of Wednesday, March 14, 1984 at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield at the age of 92.

On Dec. 18, 1912 she married Ira C. Kerr in Fairfield. Mr. Kerr died in 1964. A brother, Birdell Lowe and a granddaughter, Wild Kerr also preceded her in death.

Remaining are a son, Veryl and his wife Beryl of Douds, two daughters, Vida Phillips and her husband Rex of Selma and Verna Ruth Boyer and her husband Jack of Douds. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Kerr lived in the West Union neighborhood between Douds and Birmingham most of her life.

She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Women and will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother, a good neighbor and friend.
