Lester E. Parsons

Lester E. Parsons of Birmingham, died at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 1984, at Parkview Care Center at Fairfield after a lengthy illness.

He was born Oct. 11, 1908 in the Oak Grove Community between Douds and Birmingham, the son of Irvin and Martha Canaday Parsons. He was reared in the rural areas in which he was born, and attended Douds and Birmingham High Schools. He was a graduate of White's Business College of Fort Madison.

ON March 15, 1932, he was united in marriage to Edith Pratt. She survives. Also surviving are two children, James I. and wife, Joyce of Birmingham, and Jeralee J. Larson and husband Jim of Fairfield, two grandchildren, Alan J. Parsons of Wapello and Susan K. Trueblood and husband Don of Fairfield, and two great grandsons, Christopher and Matthew, one brother Leo H. Parsons of Birmingham and a sister, Elizabeth DuVall of Davenport, other relatives and many friends.

He was employed at Louden Machinery Company for 30 years, and was a member of the Birmingham United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at the Birmingham United Methodist Church with burial at Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.
