Rev. Donald R. Arthur

A former minister of the Farmington United Methodist church, the Rev. Donald R. Arthur, 57, of Shenandoah, died Sunday, March 11, 1984 in a Shenandoah hospital.

The funeral was held Wednesday, March 14, at 10 a.m. at the Shenandoah United Methodist Church. A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan, Ill.

The Rev. Arthur was pastor of Shenandoah United Methodist Church since 1978 and formerly was superintendent of the Waterloo district of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Naomi; two daughters, Nancy Cook of Lakefield, Minn., and Ruth Gissel of Ankeny; four sons, Mark and John, both of Tulsa, Okla., David of Omaha, Neb. and Harry of Muskegon, Mich.; his mother, Mary Arthur of Newton, Kan.; three brothers, Dwayne of Ventura, Calif.; Edwin of Corpus Christi, Texas and Ned of Sterling, Colo.; a sister, Lois Hastings of newton, Kan.; and nine grandchildren.
