LEONA M. VAN DER WALL

Leona M. Van Der Wall, daughter of Daniel T. and Nettie Cade Laughlin, was born March 9, 1926 near Douds and departed this life early Wednesday, January 11, 1984 at St. Anthony's Hospital skilled nursing care unit in Crown Point, Indiana at the age of 57.

She grew up in the Douds community, graduated from Douds High School, and on June 30, 1946 was married to James Van Der Wall in Keosauqua. They lived in Birmingham, near Douds and in 1959 moved to the Chicago area.

Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Diana Lounsbury, Cleveland, Ohio, Dorothy Calabrace and Doris Cipolla, both of Matteson, Illinois; two grandchildren; and a sister Edna Leyden of Birmingham.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, David, Ernest, John and Floyd and two sisters, Ella Mae Findley and Esther Ross.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 14, 1984 at 1:30 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds with Rev. Walter Shuka of Zion Bible Church officiating. Interment was in Mount Moriah Cemetery north of Douds.
