ROY E. STARR

Roy E. Starr, 79, of Farmington died Saturday, October 8, at 7 a.m. in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital at Keosauqua.

Born October 5, 1904 at Fort Madison, he was the son of Arthur and Flora Mae Potter Starr.

He married Gertrude Leffler on December 26, 1928 at Mt. Sterling, Illinois.

A Farmington resident for 50 years, he was a section foreman for the Rock Island Railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood maintenance and Way of Railroad.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; one son, Roy E. Starr of Acme, Pennsylvania; three daughters, Mrs. Chris (Grace) Dorbeck of Moline, Illinois, Mrs. Raymond (Helen) Holland of Farmington, Mrs. John (Marjorie) Bruggeman of Rock Island, Illinois; three sisters, Mrs. Arnold (Carmel) Bentzinger, Mrs. Willard (Goldie) Schau, both of Donnellson, and Mrs. Margaret Vigness of Mt. Pleasant; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers.

The funeral was held Monday, October 10, 1983, at 2 p.m. in the Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington. The Rev. James Rozendaal officiated. Burial was in Greenglade Cemetery, Farmington.
