William Casteel

BIRMINGHAM - William M. Casteel, 66, of rural Birmingham died at 12:20 p.m. Nov. 21, 1983, at Jefferson County Hospital.

He was born on May 29, 1917, at Newtown, Mo., to Robert and Lura Shirkey Casteel. He married Lilliam Christy on Nov. 30, 1941, at Milan, Mo. A retired Rockwell maintenance department employee, he was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Neil Smith Post American Legion. He lived in the Fairfield and Birmingham areas for 21 years.

Survivors include his wife; eight sons, Bob Christy of Dayton, Ohio, Jack White of Taylor, Mo., Kenneth White of Lakeside, Calif., William Casteel of Unionville, Mo.; Richard Casteel of Warrensburg, Mo.; Earl Casteel of Mount Pleasant, and Larry and Dennis Casteel of Fairfield; four daughters, Lillian Carlson and Norma Elliott of Fairfield, Kathleen Smith of Laurel, Mont., and Glenda Bailey of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; 43 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

The services were held Thursday, Nov. 24, 1983 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, the Rev. Robert P. Kelly officiating. Burial with military rites, was at Dixon Cemetery near Unionville, Mo. Thursday.
