Clyde Hackard

Clyde Hackard, 80, of 19584 Sherwood, South Bend, Ind., died at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, 1983, in his home after a six month illness.

He had been a City of Chicago employee, retiring in 1968 after 42 years of employment. Born on Feb. 21, 1903, in Keosauqua, he lived in South Bend, Ind., for 13 years, coming from Chicago. On Dec. 9, 1927, in Chicago, he married Beatrice E. Hughes. She died in April 27, 1982. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Chaplin of South Bend and Mrs. Darlene Lang of Arlington Heights, Ill., and eight grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Fred (Faye) Hackard of Bentonsport, a nephew, Kenneth Hughes of Keosauqua and a number of nieces and nephews in Van Buren County.

Services were held Tuesday, Oct. 11, 1983 in South Bend with Rev. Loren VanOort, pastor of Christ the King Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, South Bend.
