JOSEPH H. BLAKELEY
Joseph H. Blakeley, 83, Stockport, died at 2:05 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 1983 at Good Samaritan Home, Keosauqua, after a long illness.
He was born December 6, 1899, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Oscar and Clara Turman Blakeley. He married Violet Harter, April 25, 1918, in Fairfield.
Mr. Blakeley was a retired farmer who had lived in the Salem and Stockport vicinities for many years.
Surviving: the wife; son Wayne, Hardin, Missouri; five daughters, Lorraine Jannings, Bloomfield, Meda Bailey, Salem, Alberta Schrepfer, Mt. Pleasant, Kathryn Waterman, West Burlington, and Theola Savage, Burlington; 17 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 17, at 1 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with the Rev. Richard DeVore officiating. Burial was in Spencer Cemetery. A memorial for Spencer Cemetery Association has been established.
