Hubert B. Lunsford

Hubert Brunk Lunsford, son of Absalom and Addie Watson Lunsford, was born January 24, 1897 in Van Buren County and died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 1983, at his home in Milton at the age of 86.

On Dec. 16, 1933 he married Hazel Zollars at Memphis, Mo. She remains. Also surviving are a sister, Hazel Lawrence, of Milton, and Mark Lunsford, both of Bridgeton, Mo., a daughter-in-law, Esther Lunsford of Bridgeton, other relatives and a host of friends.

His parents, a sister, Inez Rowland of Fort Madison, and a son preceded him in death.

Hugh, as he was known to his friends, farmed in the Milton area all his life. In 1957 he united with the Milton Christian Church and has been a faithful member ever since. He served as a Deacon for several years.

He served his country in the Army during World War I and was a member of Russell-Strait Post No. 483, American Legion, at Milton.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 9, 1983 at 10 A.M. in the Milton Christian Church, with Rev. Ed Pool officiating. Interment with military rites in charge of Russell-Strait Post was in Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton. A memorial was established for his church. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
