Rowena Harryman

Rowena Harryman, daughter of George and Radilla Sampson Morrow, was born Aug. 19, 1898 near Douds and died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 1983 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 85.

On Nov. 3, 1920 she married Dewey Harryman at her parents home. They lived their married life in the Douds, Fairfield, and Burlington communities.

Remaining are her husband, Dewey, three sons, Donald of Douds, Francis of Los Alamitos, Calif., and Caro of Gardena, Calif., 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Emmett Morrow of Keosauqua and George Morrow of Gardena, Calif., a sister, Lizzie Parsons, Galdbrook, Iowa, other relatives and friends.

A son, Robert, three brothers and five sisters preceded her in death.

Rowena was employed a number of years at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant near Burlington, and had been a nurse's aide at Burlington Hospital and Van Buren County Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of the Fairfield Church of the Nazarene and the Oak Grove Ladies Aid.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 10, 1983 at 3:30 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with Rev. Harold Harryman officiating. Interment was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds. A memorial established for the Lung Association.
