Orpha A. Brewer

Orpha A. Brewer, daughter of Thomas and Margaret Hessler Johnson, was born April 27,1894 at Long Prairie, Minn., and died Friday, July 15, 1983 at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua at the age of 89.

On February 26, 1913 she married Lester H. Brewer at Crookston, Minn. They lived in Van Buren County, in Minnesota, many years in Peoria, Ill., and retired to Keosauqua in 1971. Mr. Brewer died in 1978.

Remaining are a daughter Betty Spears and her husband Kenneth of Tucson, Ariz., two grandsons, Roger and Jack Spears, a granddaughter, Kay Boorsma, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Dolly Skauge and Stella Fairbrother, both of California, a brother, Howard Johnson in Montana, nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother and a gracious lady to her friends in the community.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 18, 1983 at 3 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Harold Harryman officiating. Interment was in Pittsburg Cemetery.
