Ralph L. Mitchell

Ralph L. Mitchell, son of Alexander and Shiloh Cameron Mitchell, was born Dec. 11, 1898 in Lee County, Iowa and died Saturday, July 16, 1983 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 84.

He graduated from high school at Keokuk. On Nov. 12, 1921 he married Thelma Scotten at Mount Sterling. They farmed all their married life in the Mt. Sterling - Keosauqua area except for fifteen years in Clark County, Mo. Mrs. Mitchell died in 1976. A daughter, Jean Annette, four brothers and four sisters also preceded him in death. Mr. Mitchell had resided at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua in recent years.

Remaining are his son, Jack and his wife Betty of rural Keosauqua, three granddaughters, Judy Schafer, Chris Morgan, and Diane Mitchell, and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are a twin sister, Ruth Worrell of Kahoka, Mo., other relatives and friends. Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Center Chapel United Methodist Church and Van Buren County Farm Bureau.

He was a devoted father and grandfather, a good farmer, friend and neighbor.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 19, 1983 at 10:30 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Louise Spears officiating. Interment was in Center Chapel Cemetery.
