Elizabeth Courtney

A funeral for Elizabeth Courtney, 71, of Farmington, who died Friday, July 1, at 9:40 p.m. in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Hofbauer Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Rozendaal officiating. Burial was in Greenglade cemetery.

She was born Dec. 8, 1911, at Fort Smith, Ark., to Jess and Ludie Abington Beall. She married E.A. Smith on June 22, 1929. She married Walter Courtney Feb. 26, 1950 at Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Courtney had been a resident of Farmington for 30 years.

Surviving are a son, Donald Smith of Savory, Kans.; a daughter, Linda Courtney, Farmington; a brother John Beall, Des Moines; two sisters, Aleen Feiertag, Kissimmee, Fla., and Sue Junkins, Montrose; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She had made her home with her nephew, Bud Drummond, and his family for the past three months.
