LAWRENCE (LARRY) E. DIEPHUIS

Lawrence (Larry) E. Diephuis, 29, of Patoka, Indiana, was killed in an accident Thursday morning at Scott Timber Co. at Patoka. According to reports a top log from a truck being unloaded, rolled off and hit Diephuis in the chest. He died instantly from internal injuries.

Lawrence spent most of his life at Bonaparte. He had lived the last four years at Patoka, Indiana. He died April 21, 1983 at 6:55 a.m. He was born January 11, 1954 at Burlington, Iowa. Lawrence served in the United States Navy. He worked as a timber cutter in Patoka.

He is survived by his wife Patience, a son Joseph E. and a step-daughter, Amy Jo, of Patoka, Indiana; his mother, Madge Diephuis of Bonaparte; two brothers, Roger of Bonaparte and John Martin, Jr. (Jack) of Farmington; one sister, Jo Anne Pugh of Princeton, Indiana; and his grandmother, Faye Hainline of Bonaparte. He was preceded in death by his father, John Martin, Sr.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at the Stodgill Funeral Home, Fort Branch, Indiana with Rev. James Hape officiating. Burial was at Walnut Gill Cemetery at Fort Branch, Indiana.
