Joy E. Johnson

Joy Esther Johnson was born near Troy, Iowa, October 19, 1893 to Walter and Margaret McClure Ritz, and died of a heart attack at the Union Printers Home in Colorado Springs, Colo., May 9, 1983 at the age of 89. She attended grade school near Troy, moved to Milton and graduated from Milton High School in 1912. She was the last surviving member of the class. She was united in marriage to Chester B. Johnson, March 29, 1914. He preceded her in death, September 7, 1950.

She spent most of her life in Des Moines, Iowa, was a printer at the Des Moines Register and Tribune Company, member of Typographical Union. She was a member of the West Des Moines Christian Church and the Eastern Star, Chapter 89.

Graveside services were held Monday, May 16 at Masonic Cemetery. The body was cremated. There are no immediate survivors, but she is survived by several cousins.
