Thomas F. Sexton

Thomas F. Sexton, 82, of rural Keosauqua, died at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 1983 at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

He was born Sept. 25, 1900, near Douds to James and Julie Cosey Sexton. He lived on the same farm between Douds and Keosauqua all of his adult life. Always interested in farm programs, he became chairman of the Van Buren County ASCS Committee for a number of years and was one of the first recipients of the Master Farmer Award from the Bankers Conservation Committee of Van Buren County.

He was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Eldon, where he served as a trustee for 16 years.

He attended high school in Ottumwa and Douds and graduated from St. Ambrose Academy in Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. He is survived by one brother, Joseph of Keosauqua and several cousins. He had many friends.

The Rosary was held at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua on Tuesday evening, April 19, 1983.

The funeral service as held on Wednesday, April 20, 1983 in St. Aloysius Catholic Church with the Reverend Mark Spring, Pastor, as Celebrant of the funeral mass, assisted by the Reverends Kenneth Martin and William Snell of Davenport and Rev. E. William Kaska of Newton. Burial was in Calvary section of the Eldon Cemetery.
