Margaret Mellen

Margaret Mellen, 76, of Bonaparte died Wednesday, March 23, 1983 at 12:15 p.m. at Laughlin Hospital, Kirksville, Mo.

Born Jan. 28, 1907 at Cuba, Ill., she was the daughter of Elliott and Gertrude Ackerson Murphy. She married Carl R. Mellen on Oct. 14, 1926 at Sigourney. She has been a Bonaparte area resident most of her life. She was a member of the Bonaparte Baptist Church and Magnolia Chapter 276 O.E.S. at Bonaparte.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Edith) Gonterman of Bonaparte; two sisters, Mrs. Clarice Fritsinger of Lancaster, Calif., Mrs. Fern Brombaugh of Enid, Okla.; two grandsons, three great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, three brothers and one sister.

The funeral was held Saturday, March 26, 1983 at 11 a.m. in the Bonaparte Baptist Church with Pastor Bob Dodds officiating. Burial was in the Bonaparte cemetery. The Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington was in charges of arrangements. A memorial has established for the Bonaparte Baptist Church.
