Death Ruled A Suicide

The death of Tommy C. Lewman, 22, of Keosauqua has been ruled a suicide by Dr. James T. Worrell, Van Buren County medical examine.

Lewman's body was found at the end of a culvert under the Pittsburg blacktop road west of Keosauqua Friday evening by his father, Thomas C. Lewman, who with other family members had been searching for the missing man.

Time of death was placed at late Tuesday night by Dr. Worrell. Lewman used his own .22-caliber rifle to shoot himself in the forehead. A note in the form of a will was found on the body. Van Buren County sheriff Marvin Story said no further investigation of the death is planned.

Lewman was unemployed and had recently returned from two weeks of Army reserve guard duty with the 972nd maintenance unit at Washington, Iowa.
